All Who Wander are not Lost...

I opened a Magic Hat #9 last night to drink with my dinner and this is what was under the cap. Quite fitting for someone going to Ireland in less than a week. In fact, I was just talking about this very concept the other day. And don't worry, the bottle cap was only slightly harmed in the opening of my beer. It will continue out the rest of it's days as a magnet on our fridge.

Would You Like Fries ON That?

January 9 – 11, 2009. A sandwich from Primanti Bros is worth the four hour trip from DC to Pittsburgh. Two slices of bread. Corn beef. A pile of vinegar-based coleslaw. A few slivers of tomato. And a side order of fries placed directly onto the sandwich. Hot sauce and ketchup to top it off. Pure Awesomeness in edible form served up in a hole-in-the wall type of joint in the South Side. Customers came and went, saying 'Go Steelers' in place of greetings and goodbyes. Several weeks later, the Steelers ended up winning the Superbowl.

The added bonus was that we got to hangout with Nick, Mark and Kyle the entire weekend. Football. Stories. Slush. And awesome beer that Mark brewed.

All-Inclusive. The Bahamas. Dec. 6 – Dec. 9.

Breezes. Basketball. Toasted Almonds. Awesome local musical performance. Stand up Comedian. Bahama Mamas. Conch Fritters. Windiness. Downtown Nassau. Watching the Eagles. Ping pong. Midnight snack. Deej teaching me billiards. Tasty fish. Super nice staff and locals. Blue waters.

Over all, it was a fun getaway in December. 3 nights. 4 days. All you can eat and drink. However, it turns out that we are not
the all-inclusive, lay around on the beach, types. I think when we go somewhere new, we prefer to really experience the culture. Their food. Blend in. Drop the tourist label (Look for our Ireland Blog posts, coming soon). Plus, toward the end of our trip, we really started to miss our own home cooking. Nothing beats a good pasta creation on a cold day in December. It's all about the food.
